Description

Ingredients

• Povidone-Iodine (10% w/w, 1.0% available iodine): This active ingredient is known for its antimicrobial properties, providing an effective barrier against a wide spectrum of pathogens.
• Non-Adherent Knitted Viscose Fabric: Ensures comfort and easy removal without causing trauma to the wound site.

Application

For Adults and Children over 6 years:

1. Preparation: Clean the wound area gently with sterile water or saline solution.
2. Application: Open the sterile package and apply the Inadine Dressing directly onto the wound. Cover with a secondary dressing if required.
3. Frequency of Change: Replace the dressing when the iodine colour fades, typically every 1-3 days. In highly exuding wounds, more frequent changes may be necessary.

For Children under 6 years: Consult a healthcare professional before use.

Side Effects

• Skin Irritation: Some individuals may experience localised irritation or hypersensitivity reactions such as redness, itching, or rash.
• Allergic Reactions: Rarely, individuals may develop a severe allergic reaction to iodine. Symptoms include swelling, severe redness, and difficulty breathing. Discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention if these occur.

Warnings

• Thyroid Disorders: Patients with thyroid disorders should use Inadine Dressings with caution due to the iodine content. Prolonged use can affect thyroid function.
• Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Use under medical supervision as iodine can cross the placenta and be secreted in breast milk.
• Long-Term Use: Prolonged use is not recommended without medical advice due to the risk of iodine absorption and potential thyroid dysfunction.

Interactions

• Lithium Therapy: Iodine can potentiate the effects of lithium, leading to an increased risk of hypothyroidism.
• Topical Enzymes and Silver Products: Avoid simultaneous use with enzyme debriding agents or silver-containing dressings as iodine can inactivate these products.

• Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
• Disposal: Dispose of used dressings in accordance with local regulations. Do not flush down the toilet.

Directions for Use
