Docusate Sodium Adult 50mg/5ml Oral Solution is a stool softener designed to relieve constipation by making bowel movements easier. It is suitable for adults and children over 12 years of age.

Description
Ingredients:
- Active Ingredient: Docusate Sodium 50mg per 5ml
- Other Ingredients: Methyl Parahydroxybenzoate, Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate, Sodium Benzoate, Sorbitol, Purified Water, Strawberry Flavour
Dosage:
- Adults and children over 12 years: 10-15ml (2-3 teaspoons) three times a day. Take as a single dose followed by plenty of water or a flavoured drink such as milk or orange juice. The maximum daily dose is 50ml (10 teaspoons).
- Children under 12 years: Not recommended. A suitable alternative, Docusate Sodium 12.5mg/5ml Oral Solution, is available for younger children.
Side Effects:

- Rash or itching (allergic reactions)
Warnings:
- Do not exceed the recommended dosage.

- Not suitable for individuals with a known allergy to docusate sodium or any other ingredients.
- Avoid use if experiencing severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, or a sudden change in bowel habits that persists for more than two weeks.
- Prolonged use can cause the gut to become lazy and not work properly.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding women should seek medical advice before use.
Interactions:
- Do not use with mineral oil.
- May enhance the effects of other laxatives such as senna; dosage adjustments may be necessary.
